She was very active and worked hard, but always had time for everyone. She graduated from Burt High School and soon after married her love, Clifford L. Abbas on February 27th, 1944. They lived on several farms where Clifford worked as a hired hand, and eventually moved to Burt, IA where Cliff was the custodian at the school for many years. They fulfilled their dream to own a resort when they moved to Crosslake, MN in 1963 and became the owners of Beachhead Resort, which they had for 18 years. Clifford died in 1997. She then moved to Clarissa, MN to live near her daughter, Janice. During this time, she became "Grandma D" and worked at the Eagle Valley grade school in the "Grandma" program for 12 years. She adored the children and was so happy she could help them learn.
In her last year of life, she had to leave her home and moved to Good Samaritan Society - Bethany, in Brainerd where she passed away.
A Memorial Service will be held at Good Samaritan Society - Bethany Chapel, on Saturday, May 26th at 11a.m. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
