Area Girls Tennis: Pequot sweeps G-SL Panthers

PEQUOT LAKES—The Patriots doubles team of Afton Crocker and Morgan Lueck improved to 16-0 following Pequot Lakes' 7-0 victory over the Glencoe-Silver Lake Panthers Friday, Sept. 7.

Pequot's four singles players lost just two games while finishing their matches in straight sets. Megan Muller and Courtney Boller are both 15-1 and Madeline Pluimer is 14-2.

The Patriots are 15-1 overall, only losing 4-3 to Osakis Aug. 18.

S-M earns 2 wins at triangular

STAPLES—Lauren Rutten, Jenna Dvorak, and Haley Cichos all finished 2-0 and the Staples-Motley Cardinals won two meets at the Staples-Motley Triangular Friday, September 7.

The Cardinals defeated Roseau 4-3 in the first meet. They trailed 3-2, but Chicos and the doubles team of Ellie DiGiovanni and Torii Nienow won the last two matches to give the Cardinals the victory. In the second meet, Staples-Motley defeated Parkers Prairie 7-0.

DiGiovanni and Nienow won both of their doubles matches.

Wadena-DC loses 2

DETROIT LAKES—Madison Packer went 2-0 at No. 2 singles for the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines, who lost a pair of meets at the Detroit Lakes Triangular Friday.

Packer had the only W-DC win in a 6-1 loss to Detroit Lakes and along with Grace Hinojos accounted for the Wolverine points in a 5-2 loss to Crookston.
