Brainerd Lakers United for the Environment (BLUE) will hold a march at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, beginning at Gregory Park at North Sixth and Juniper streets in Brainerd.

Signs and flags are available for march participants, or march participants can bring signs.

March participants will walk to the intersection of West Washington and Northwest Fourth streets, where a vigil will be held. The vigil will demand action to address the impacts of climate change on the environment. The vigil supports environmental protection and a sustainable, just transition to clean energy.

March participants will return to Gregory Park after the vigil.

The BLUE march and vigil supports the People's Climate Movements' Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice on Sept. 8. Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice is a national mobilization demanding action on climate change from the public and private sectors. After the march and vigil, BLUE will hold its monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m. in the Brainerd United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. The UCC is at 415 Juniper St., near Gregory Park.

The BLUE meeting will discuss electing two new co-chairs and plans for meteorologist Paul Douglas's "How is Climate Change Affecting the Brainerd Lakes Area?" presentation at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22.

The BLUE march, vigil and meeting are free events that are open to the public.
