Letter to the Editor: Election meddling by Democrats

Mr. Olson recently referenced an article regarding President Nixon. I encourage all people to read the article so you can get the rest of the story.

According to the article, President Johnson was pushing to end the Vietnam War to help Humphrey win the presidency. The South Vietnamese leaders were concerned that Johnson was giving away too much for political reasons. Of course, Nixon was opposed to ending the war for political reasons, so he applied his own political view to the situation.

One quote from the article is: "Kremlin leaders never much liked the red-baiting, anti-communist Nixon. To keep him from the Oval Office and help Humphrey become president, they were meddling in the U.S. presidential campaign, pressing their clients in North Vietnam to agree to a ceasefire and hold constructive talks to end the war."

Russia's meddling goes way back.

Mr. Olson also references the 2016 election meddling and implies that President Trump and/or his staff were involved. As of this writing, there is no evidence that the president or any of his staff have been involved in colluding with Russia, even after about a year of constant investigations.

Ultimately, if there is no proof, I wonder if Mr. Olson will publicly acknowledge that.

When it comes to election meddling, we do know that there was meddling or attempt to meddle from the Democrats. In 1983, we have solid evidence that Sen. Ted Kennedy colluded with the Russians to try to defeat President Reagan.

We also know that Fusion-GPS, who put together the fake dossier on President Trump, is at least pro-Hillary and may very well have worked with the DNC and/or other Democrats to develop this fake dossier. In my view, this is stronger evidence than anything that has been suggested against Trump.
