Feb. 8 is Family Fun Night with the Teddy Bear Band at Eagle View

Friday night, Feb. 8, has been designated as a Family Fun Night for the families of preschool through elementary-aged children at Eagle View Elementary School.

This free evening of family activities will feature the well-known Minnesota based music group, the Teddy Bear Band. The event will begin at 6 p.m.

The music and fun of the Teddy Bear Band is created with the intent that children will gain and maintain a positive sense of self and an appreciation of their own abilities. Adult friendly opportunities are provided to encourage parents and teachers to join in the fun as role models to support this process.

Participation and interaction are cornerstone concepts of the Teddy Bear Band musical shows.

The Teddy Bear Band is a real band, playing real instruments, in real time. In this age of computers and pre-programmed entertainment, the Teddy Bear Band believes it is important to give kids a musical experience they can see and feel for themselves, as it happens.

The band’s name comes from a belief that teddy bears are powerful symbols of healthy early childhood experience. Bringing a teddy bear to a show is not required; however, bears or stuffed friends that attend become objects of interaction to further inspire participation and raise the fun level, so bring your own teddy bear, if you want.

Families are requested to register for the Family Fun Night by calling Sarah Tabaka at 218-562-7520.

Each family will receive a free book. The evening will include crafts, stories, music and dancing with the Teddy Bear Band until 7:30 p.m. in the lower level cafeteria and gym at Eagle View.

Teddy Bear Band Family Fun Night is sponsored by the Pequot Lakes Early Childhood Family Education program and the Pequot Lakes, Breezy Point and Crosslake Early Childhood Coalition. This event is funded in part by the Initiative Foundation, a regional foundation.
