Phil Yetzer announces candidacy
Phil Yetzer, of Fairfield Township, has registered as a candidate for a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 10B, having received the DFL endorsement at the District 10 Convention in April. The district includes the eastern side of Crow Wing County and all of Aitkin County.
Incumbent Rep. Dale Lueck, R-Aitkin, also filed to reclaim his seat.
Yetzer is a graduate of St. Cloud State University and studied as a foreign exchange student in Denmark. He has been a member of the United Food Workers, the Teamsters and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers labor unions. His experiences also include management positions in the trucking industry, ownership in a residential construction company and more recently owner of the Wolfhound Bar and Grill in Emily, which he operated from 2004 until fall 2017.
He is currently an active member and secretary of the Emily Volunteer Fire Department, vice president of the Emily Cooperative Telephone Company board of directors and chair of the Fairfield Township Board of Supervisors.
He intends to focus his campaign on issues relating to the strength of the state and local economies, health care reform and education funding.
A meet-the-candidate and campaign kickoff event will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Crosby Bar & Grill, 212 W. Main St. in downtown Crosby. All are welcome to attend.
