Pequot Lakes: School board establishes combined polling places

The Pequot Lakes School Board unanimously approved a policy that establishes combined polling places for multiple precincts in the board's regular meeting Monday, Nov. 20.

Superintendent Chris Lindholm said the board needs to address this policy on an annual basis moving forward.

"In our last legislative session, statute changed requiring school districts to annually adopt combined polling places in the event an election or vote has to take place in an off year,

Lindholm said. "Our district nearly always runs its elections to coincide with public elections. Therefore, our elections are run by the county and in those scenarios, this is irrelevant and does not matter. This is only if we have to run an election off-cycle from the general election."

The potential polling places approved were the Crosslake Community Center and the Cole Memorial Building in Pequot Lakes.

The board also conducted a second reading of potential changes to the district's class size policy. The board will take action following the third reading.

Board members accepted five donations to the district, with a donation going to the football program, the cross country program, PBIS programs, the culinary arts program and Community Education.

The board will host its truth in taxation meeting regarding public comment on the proposed budget and tax levy at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, with its regular meeting to follow at 7 p.m.
