Pequot Lakes: Back to school events announced

The first day of school for grades 1-12 in the Pequot Lakes School District is Tuesday, Sept. 4. Kindergartners will begin Thursday, Sept. 6. Parents of early childhood students are encouraged to check the school website for their child's first day.

NEW STUDENTS: Registration now open, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

New student registration is now underway. Parents must bring their child's birth certificate, immunization records and Social Security number along with the family's E911 address.

Grades K-4 can register in the Eagle View Elementary School office, grades 5-8 in the middle school office and grades 9-12 in the high school office.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS: Open house 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, and 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.

Early Childhood Family Education, School Readiness and Learning is Fun preschool open house will be at the Early Childhood Center (east end of Eagle View). For more information or to sign up for classes, call 218-562-7520. Class times and information are also available in the Community Education brochure and on the school website.

School Readiness parent meeting and bus safety training: 5:15 or 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, or 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.

This is a required training for School Readiness students and parents. Pre-registration is required.

EAGLE VIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (grades 1-4): Open house 3:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29.

Meet your child's teacher, organize your child's locker/desk, visit the Community Fair activities in the cafeteria, update your information for Skyward, and stop in the office to take care of paperwork or lunch accounts.

EAGLE VIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (kindergarten): Parents will receive a letter in August giving a 20-minute scheduled conference time with the classroom teacher on Sept. 4 or 5. Before or after that conference time, students will also have school pictures taken, hearing and vision completed, and parents may stop in the office to update information and take care of lunch accounts. The first regular school day for kindergarten will be Thursday, Sept. 6.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (incoming fifth grade): Thursday, Aug. 23. Students: Noon-4 p.m. Parent/guardian meeting: 3-4 p.m.

The district combined fifth-grade WEB orientation and open house to provide a personalized experience for incoming fifth-grade students and their parents/guardians. Fifth-grade households will take part in a comprehensive "Welcome to Middle School" starting in the middle level gym. It is highly recommended that both students and parents/guardians participate. MIDDLE SCHOOL/HIGH SCHOOL (grades 6-12): Open house 3:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.

Pick up and walk through student schedules, visit classrooms, organize lockers and establish or replenish lunch accounts. Grade level meetings for middle school households will occur at 4 p.m. (grades 6-8). Throughout the evening there will be opportunities to gather information about various programs.
