Central Lakes College Law Enforcement Skills Program

Nicholas Salvevold, of Pequot Lakes, is one of 20 students to graduate recently from the Central Lakes College Law Enforcement Skills Program.

This new, unique program allows students to get an insider's look into the career of law enforcement. CLC students get in the driver's seat of new, state-of-the-art squad cars, which come with the same software that officers use on the streets today. This is the only program in the state that offers that experience.

In this eight-week program, students are trained in firearms, defense tactics, using a taser, chemical aerosol, radar and using lidar.

University of Wisconsin-Stout

Two area students received the University of Wisconsin-Stout Chancellor's Award for the spring 2018 semester for having a grade-point average of 3.5 or above. They are Andrew Pitassi, Emily, a senior pursuing a bachelor's in fine arts in entertainment design; and Jonah Lelwica, Pine River, a junior majoring in supply chain management.
