PR-B to celebrate homecoming week

Pine River-Backus will celebrate homecoming the week of Oct. 9-13 with the theme "Throwback '70s."

Homecoming candidates are Sydney Davidson, Brianna Blanchard, Shaun Jacobsen, Emma Mills, Lindsey Tulenchik, Austin Tatecke, Misato Marcum, Nick Ackerman, Cody France and Chris Krecklau. Candidates will walk the school halls Thursday, Oct. 12, after practicing their skit at 8 a.m.

Coronation will be at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, with an autograph session at 11 a.m. in the elementary school gym.

Wednesday, Oct. 11, a drive-in movie will be shown in the commons parking lot at 6:45 p.m. The movie is "Dirty Dancing."

Students will dress up throughout the week: Monday, Oct. 9, Preppy; Tuesday, Oct. 10, Color Wars with seniors in white, juniors in red, sophomores in yellow, freshmen in blue, eighth-graders in purple, seventh-graders in green and teachers in pink; Wednesday, Oct. 11, Decades with juniors and seniors representing the 1970s, freshmen and sophomores representing the 1990s, seventh- and eighth-graders representing the 2000s, and teachers representing the 1980s; Thursday, Oct. 12, Prepare for the 13th; and Friday, Oct. 13, Spirit Day.

The Tigers volleyball team will host Blackduck at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, and Northome-Kelliher at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13.

There will be a punt, pass and kick event for grades 3-6 at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, and a junior high dance at 6 p.m. that day.

The Tigers football team will host Cass Lake-Bena at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, followed by the high school dance at 9 p.m.
