PR-B Community Education lists classes
Pine River-Backus Community Education offers the following upcoming classes. Register online at prbschools.revtrak.net or call 218-587-2080.
• Photography by Experience: 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, Pine River-Backus High School Room 25. Fee: $20.
A photography course on the last Wednesday of each month will help participants get out of their camera's "Auto" mode for better, more controlled photography results. Lessons will include the rule of thirds, shaped "bokeh," using filters, overcoming backlighting, photography without flash, taking better portrait photos, taking better action photos and other lessons.
Each class will include a lesson, practice session and group critique to learn what works and what does not. Lessons will focus on techniques for cameras with detachable lenses, but lessons will target most cameras with adjustable F-stop, shutter speed and ISO.
Travis Grimler will be the instructor.
• Family Game Night: 6-7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, Hunt Utilities Group Resilient Living Campus, Pine River. Fee: $20.
All ages are welcome; adults should accompany children. The evening will include trivia about nature topics with Happy Dancing Turtle staff. Bring a Wi-Fi capable smartphone or tablet if able. Light refreshments will be provided.
• Bookkeeping for Your Small Business: 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, Pine River-Backus High School Media Center. Fee: $20.
The goal of this class is to enable the small business owner who is just starting out or is struggling with the details of bookkeeping. Students will learn the basics of what business expenses are and how to account for them without spending an inordinate amount of time and effort to do so.
Participants may bring specific questions to share with the class. Instructor is Gayle S. Wagner, licensed certified public accountant.
• Creative Cards to Make and Take: 6-8:30 p.m. Monday, May 1, Pine River-Backus High School FACS Room 49. Fee: $20.
Decorate a card case to hold the cards you make. Participants will make a variety of different and unique cards. Bring double-sided tape to class. Instructor is Carol Johnson.
