Performing Arts Club offered to Pequot Lakes students

Body:

Pequot Lakes students in grades 7-12 are invited to check out the "new" Performing Arts Club, which will meet for the first time from 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in the Pequot Lakes High School auditorium.

This program is for students who would like to perform on stage as a singer, dancer, magician, comedy routine or part of a theatrical production.

Performing Arts Club will also take a look at technical aspects of staging productions — lights, sound, sets, props and production crew skills.

Participants do not need to have experience in theater, acting or singing to join the Performing Arts Club. Bring a passion for creativity and performing, and participants will develop a club activity that helps everyone reach their performing goals.

Susan Mathison Young is leading the Performing Arts Club. Plans are for the club to meet once a week for the remainder of the school year.

Students who decide to participate should register with the Pequot Lakes Community Education office. Fee is $25 for the full year. Call 218-568-9200 for more information.

Online registration can be made by going to the school website at www.isd186.org, then select "departments," click on "Community Education" and go to "online payment."

Registration forms will be available at the first organizational session Oct. 23.
