2 charged following drug raid near Brainerd's Memorial Park
Drug agents with the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division confiscated methamphetamine along with several rounds of ammunition in a drug bust Friday, Aug. 31, at a residence within one block of Memorial Park on Mill Avenue in Brainerd.
Three people were arrested after LADID executed a search warrant at the residence on 10th Avenue Northeast in Brainerd.
Two of the people—Benjamin M. Hofius, 28, and Ciarra A. Hofius, 23, also known as Ciarra A. Bishop Martinez—who reside at the residence, were charged Tuesday in Crow Wing County District Court in Brainerd with third-degree possession of a controlled substance near a park. The third person, a 29-year-old man, was arrested for violating his probation for fifth-degree drug possession and third-degree drug sale.
According to the probable cause document filed against the defendants, drug agents located two Tupperware dishes with dried white residue—which field-tested positive for methamphetamine—on the bed headboard in Benjamin and Ciarra Hofius' bedroom. Multiple boxes of ammunition and a .40-caliber pistol magazine were located in a backpack behind the door, in addition to other ammunition, including 158 rounds of 9 mm, 33 rounds of .22 caliber and 73 rounds of .40 caliber.
According to court records, Ciarra Hofius is serving on probation for a previous charge of third-degree drug sale.
