Nisswa-based GrowthZone recently completed its student summer intern program.

Joining the program from Pequot Lakes High School were Marty Fitzer, class of 2017, and Alex Tangen, class of 2015. This was Fitzer's second year participating in the program. He will attend St. Cloud State University this fall and major in software engineering.

Tangen is beginning his senior year at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and will graduate next spring with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science.

Thomas Juranek, Brainerd High School class of 2017, recently graduated from Central Lakes College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in mobile application development. He will major in computer science at North Dakota State University.

The internships lasted approximately three months. While at GrowthZone, the students had the opportunity to work on mobile, website, database and server-side coding projects.

"We were very excited to have such phenomenal local talent participate in our Internship program this year. They were exposed to areas of software engineering, database querying, and exploring innovative strategies such as artificial intelligence," said Robin Eddy, director of software delivery and quality.
