Rear-end crash with semitrailer injures 3
MCGREGOR—Three people were injured at 12:24 p.m. Saturday, June 30, in a rear-end crash involving a Freightliner semitrailer and a GMC Sierra near McGregor in Aitkin County.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported a Ford van was traveling east on Highway 210 when it slowed to turn left on 248th Place, which caused the Freightliner truck to quickly apply its brakes. The GMC Sierra was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the Freightliner truck, which caused the Sierra to start on fire.
The three people in the Sierra—the driver, Brian K. Hinzmann, 42, and his passengers, Hope Hinzmann, 39, and Mikayla Hinzmann, 15, all of Eagle Bend, were transported to Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck, Khadar Abdirahman, 26, Green Bay, Wis., and the driver of the van, Laneshia Black, 28, Savannah, Ga., were not injured.
The Aitkin County Sheriff's Office and McGregor Fire Department assisted the state patrol at the scene.
