Record number of quilts donated for Camp Knutson Quilt Auction
The 32nd annual Camp Knutson Quilt Auction on Saturday, August 11, 2018 will feature a record number of quilts. Over 300 quilted items will be featured in the silent auction or in the live auction. Both the silent auction and the live auction will feature a wide variety of items from Christmas stockings to king-sized quilts.
Several "mystery" quilts have been donated by Brainerd Lakes area quilters. Country Fabrics, a Brainerd quilt shop, hosts a Third Saturday Club where participants receive a quilt block pattern each month, designed by Brainerd's Brenda Peterson. Quilters use their own fabrics and colors to create a one-of-a-kind block. The "mystery" is that until the quilt is complete, the quilter does not know what final design their skills will create. Several of these unique quilts have been donated to for the 2018 quilt auction. They are fun to compare and contrast, and demonstrate the charitable giving focus of the 3rd Saturday club.
Camp Knutson of Lutheran Social Service serves children with special and identified needs. The viewing of the quilts and the silent auction will occur from 9:30 — 11:30 am. The live auction will start at noon. Food and refreshments will be available. Camp Knutson is located at 11148 Manhattan Point Boulevard in Crosslake, MN.
