Public Earth Day celebration set in Brainerd

The public is invited to an Earth Day celebration, march and picnic at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Gregory Park in Brainerd.

There will be a march from Gregory Park to the intersection of West Washington and Northwest Fourth streets. A vigil for Earth will be held before returning to the park. Some signs will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own environmentally themed signs and flags.

The program in the park will feature speakers, an open mic, a children's arts table, face painting, a Master Gardeners table, rain barrel construction and sales, and informational tables. Attendees may bring a picnic lunch to eat and lawn chairs and tables. Some picnic tables will be available. Water and hot beverages will be provided.

The Earth Day event is free. Groups interested in sharing environmental information are encouraged to have a table during the program.

The event is hosted by Brainerd Lakers United for the Environment, the Brainerd High School Eco Club and the Brainerd Area Coalition for Peace.
