'Chasing Ice' documentary to play at Brainerd library
The 2012 documentary "Chasing Ice" will play at the 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Brainerd Public Library's large conference room.
In the film, nature photographer James Balog and the Extreme Ice Survey team document the decline of glaciers and ice sheets in Alaska, Greenland and Iceland due to climate change. Balog and the EIS team use the images they capture glacier and ice sheet decline to inform the public about the effects of climate change on the Arctic environment.
"Chasing Ice" won the 2014 News and Documentary Emmy for Outstanding Nature Programming.
A discussion will follow the film. This event is free and open to the public.
The film presentation and discussion is hosted by Brainerd Lakers United for the Environment and the Brainerd High School Eco Club.
