Learn about the properties of decayed plant matter, or peat, from Peggy Jones, who is vice president of American Peat Technology in Aitkin, as part of Lakes Area Unlimited Learning from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby. Cost is $5 for guests.

Jones will explain the unique procedures of mining for agricultural and horticultural uses. APT supplies most of North America's peat-based microbial carriers and is the only company of its kind worldwide.
