Wild for Minnesota Orchids presentation set
BAXTER—Malcolm and Rosemary MacFarlane, botanists from St. Paul, will make a presentation about Minnesota orchids at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Northland Arboretum, 14250 Conservation Drive, Baxter.
They have done extensive volunteer work with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources on their annual surveys and monitoring of Minnesota's federally endangered plant species, especially the dwarf trout lily and the western prairie fringed orchid. For this work the MacFarlanes received the President's Volunteer Service Award. During their many projects they have endeavored to photograph all the orchids in their natural habitats.
This program is sponsored by the Brainerd Lakes Area Audubon Society, and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
