Girl injured after school bus strikes culvert near Virginia, Minn.

VIRGINIA, Minn. — A 15-year-old girl suffered injuries after the school bus she was riding in hit a culvert Tuesday, Sept. 26, in St. Louis County.

The Minnesota State Patrol said Natalie Fultz was taken to Ely Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

She was riding in a school bus driving by Kevin Bernard Burzynski, 47, of Hibbing.

The bus was traveling north on Minnesota Highway 169 in Eagles Nest Township, north of Virginia, Minn., when it drove onto a soft shoulder in a construction zone at 3:32 p.m.

The State Patrol said the bus then hit a culvert before ending up in a muddy ditch.

The road was wet at the time of the crash.

Burzynski, who was wearing a seat belt, did not sustain injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
