Faith in Action to present aging, dementia workshop Sept. 28
To be prepared for caregiving as it pertains to aging and to learn to cope with dementia at home and in the community, family caregivers, caregiver professionals, business people and the public are invited to a workshop about aging, caregiving and dementia from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Lifehouse Coffee Shop in Pine River.
The workshop, "Hello From the Other Side," will be an interactive and engaging learning experience that will provide critical information about what is normal aging and what is dementia, as well as information about the caregiver and care receiver journey, including the different kinds of caregivers, the realities of someone with dementia and the tools to support them.
Krisie Barron, licensed social worker, is a caregiver specialist who has provided caregiver support and education for over 11 years.Barron is a certified trainer in Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care. A caregiver herself, she brings a unique, all-encompassing view of being a caregiver and understands the trials and tribulations that come with the journey.
This event is sponsored by Faith in Action for Cass County and other local programs that provide care and support for families coping with caregiving and dementia.
To ensure there are materials for everyone, register in advance. Participants can give a freewill offering at the door.
