Fall color watch begins with new campaign

The Chippewa National Forest invites visitors and area communities to "Fall Head Over Heels for the Chippewa National Forest," a new fall color campaign.

CASS LAKE—The Chippewa National Forest invites visitors and area communities to "Fall Head Over Heels for the Chippewa National Forest," a new fall color campaign.

On Sept. 1, the forest web page and social media sites will be filled with ideas for scenic drives, great camping sites and favorite autumn hikes. Visitors are encouraged to follow the Chippewa National Forest on Facebook and Twitter, and use #FallForTheChipp to add their own autumn photos and favorite places to explore.

Forest staff will be highlighting the best fall recreation opportunities throughout the area with stories, photos and even using the new Chippewa National Forest recreation app. Watch for Flickr posts that show time lapse leaf color changes from Stony Point and Norway Beach campgrounds, and use that information to plan your peak color viewing.

Fall is a fantastic time to explore your National Forest! Visit one of our National Historic Sites, crunch through the leaves along the North Country Trail or take a drive along the Edge of the Wilderness National Scenic Byway. #It'sAllYours! For more information, check out the Forest website at www.fs.usda.gov/chippewa.
