Fireworks donations needed for Pine River Parade of Lights
The Pine River Chamber of Commerce is busy planning activities for the annual Pine River Parade of Lights event.
This year's theme is "Frozen In Pine River." The parade will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13; but this year activities will actually begin Saturday, Dec. 6, with business open houses, Legion art and craft sale and the First Lutheran Church Cookie Walk.
The highlight of the holiday celebration is the fireworks display produced by Zambelli Fireworks. The fireworks have become an annual attraction to the festival with great turnouts experienced each year. Pine River does not have fireworks at the Fourth of July, but instead chooses to thrill the crowd on a December night.
Donations are needed to continue the fireworks and are solicited from both businesses and individuals. The cost is in excess of $3,000 each year. There is no other fund to produce the show.
Those wishing to donate can stop by the Pine River Chamber Information Center or call the center at 218-587-4000 to pledge a donation. Without funding, the fireworks cannot happen. Each sponsor will be listed in a thank you advertisement the week following the Parade of Lights.
