Collision kills 1, injures 4, closes highway
A Thursday afternoon collision on the Sterling Highway left one dead, four injured, and the highway closed late into the night, Alaska State Troopers reported.
Andrea Leindecker, 20, of Anchorage, was driving a 1995 Ford Aspire southbound on the Sterling Highway when her car began sliding, crossed the centerline, spun sideways and was struck on the driver’s side at Mile 41.4 by an SUV traveling north, said troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters.
