Boat accident leaves two dead, three survive

The bodies of two people were found Saturday night as part of a search of Tustumena Lake.

The bodies of Kenai residents Ashley Udelhoven, 47, and Katarina Anderson, 16, were found after authorities received information about boating debris in the lake, according to Alaska State Troopers Public Information Officer Beth Ipsen.

The three survivors include Udelhoven's two daughters, Hanna, 13, and Miranda, 15, both of Soldotna and their friend Athena Robinson, 12, of Sterling.

The survivors said the boat was swamped with water while crossing the lake the previous night and Udelhoven and Anderson had succumbed during the two-mile swim to shore.

The three survivors were taken to Central Peninsula Hospital by CES for treatment of minor injuries.
