Minnesota American Legion Riders roll into town Saturday, Aug. 11, for a stop at the American Legion in downtown Brainerd during their annual Legacy Run to raise money for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship. The money benefits children whose parents lost their lives on active duty. The ride was in its second weekend with riders starting Friday in Marshall and ending Sunday in Anoka. Emily Mitchell from Crosslake entered two cream pies in the 2018 Crow Wing County Fair Baking Contest last week. Mitchell participated by entering two whole pies in two department competitions.The first pie, a coconut cream pie took first place in the Nursing Home and Handicapped Competition and the second pie, a chocolate cream pie took second place in Cream Pies Competition. This was the first time that Mitchell has entered her pies to compete at the Crow Wing County Fair.
