The front page headline of the Nov. 12, 1981, issue of the Echo read, "Cable TV coming soon." A Cable TV Commission met at Pequot Lakes City Hall to hear franchise information and procedures. It was expected that the area would have cable TV by spring 1982.

Eight to 11 inches of snow was dropped on the lakes area on Halloween 1991, bringing winter in early. The storm was being called "the great Halloween 1991 snowstorm."

Pequot Lakes School District residents voted in favor of building a new elementary school in Breezy Point.
