Great River Strings concert to include art show
The Great River Strings Orchestra concert, titled "Time Versus Eternity," will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at First Lutheran Church in Aitkin.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students.
Songs will include Haydn's "Clock Symphony" and Leroy Anderson's "Syncopated Clock."
Both concerts will include an art display, also called Time Versus Eternity, which features several local artists' interpretation of time in a medium of their choice. The art will also be displayed at the Aitkin Public Library for one month following the concert.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place, along with people's choice awards voted on by the audience at each event.
The concerts will also feature a silent auction with many items based on the time and eternity theme.
A quilt will be on display in the community the next two weeks, and tickets can be purchased from any Great River Strings member or at either concert. Call Mary Aulie at 218-839-1085 for more information on the quilt.
