Literary publicist Soukup is next Speaking of Books presenter

Krista Rolfzen Soukup, Brainerd literary publicist and owner of Blue Cottage Agency, is the next presenter in the Speaking of Books series of programs at Prairie Bay Grill and Catering, Baxter.

The free public event Thursday, Sept. 19, will run from 4:30-6 p.m.

Soukup will discuss her personal story of creating Blue Cottage Agency, publishing trends affecting today’s authors and how published authors can establish an online presence and promote their work. She will share “the world of books” from her perspective.

Soukup, who is also a marketing consultant, founded Blue Cottage Agency in 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and marketing and has more than 20 years of experience in sales, promotions and marketing.

Blue Cottage Agency promotes and represents writers and books, as well as the advancement of the literary arts as a whole. The agency assists pre-published and published writers, publishers and literary organizations in the development of literary arts projects.

The agency provides website design and hosting, social media development and support, author branding and book tours, publicity, editing and manuscript reviews and project management of workshops, classes and literary events.

This free program concludes the 2013 Speaking of Books season, which has been the second year for the literary venue created by host Joe Plut and friends Jean and Chip Borkenhagen. They organized the series as a public venue to feature regional authors, publishers, book photographers, illustrators and others associated with the communications industry. Plut, who is himself an author, is a retired college instructor from Crosby.

Each program in the series includes complimentary appetizers and time for the presenter to answer questions and sign books. Guests also receive a $5 discount toward dinner at Prairie Bay that evening.
