Yesterday, the "wearin' of the Green" was celebrated here in many ways, with dancin' at the Legion Club, green ribbons, shamrocks, etc., but perhaps none so picturesquely portrayed the traditional Irish custom as F.R. Hughes, who once again strolled into the Lake Region Hotel wearing that green Katy, a green necktie resplendent with embroidered shamrocks and meerschaum pipes, and carryin' Begorrah, that "same old shillelagh."

The public hearing scheduled for the March 13 Pine River council meeting concerning Paul's Fireplace Wood was cancelled indefinitely. However, Bill Sawyer of Sawyer Timber Co. of Backus met with the council to outline his proposal for acquisition of the former Durkee property.
A measure allowing Sunday liquor in Barclay Township passed by a 34-26 margin, as township voters went to the polls March 13.
