One plan that I like to share with my patients is the Mediterranean diet. It's not a diet that you start and stop. It's a specific pattern of eating, not specific dishes or cuisine. Its pyramid reflects the traditional food patterns of countries around the Mediterranean whose people had little incidence of heart disease, diabetes or cancer. PineandLakes.com Illustration

There are dozens of recipes giving ideas on ways to use that leftover turkey. Some looked quite appealing, some used ingredients most people would never have on hand, and some just required way too much effort. PineandLakes.com Illustration

Ribs get a reputation for being chewy and full of tallow. I've already provided a pressure-cooker method (maximum pressure for 30 minutes) that solves both issues, but I recently got curious about other ways to render ribs delicious. PineandLakes.com Illustration

Parmesan cheese is an ingredient that most people always have on hand. This cheese has a nutty and slightly salty type flavor and greatly enhances the flavor of foods when merely sprinkled on top of meats, vegetables, breads or even fruit. PineandLakes.com Illustration

Never before had any of us seen fruit on it until one day I was walking the driveway at the end of my first summer back from college. There was a tree with big green orbs hanging from it. I looked and behold, a big apple tree just covered in fruit. PineandLakes.com Illustration

I have gathered several recipes for slow cooker crockpot chicken and dumplings. By combining and using a few different seasonings, I came up with a recipe that suited my tastes. I used boneless, skinless chicken breasts, but you could replace those with boneless, skinless chicken thighs if you prefer dark meat. PineandLakes.com Illustration

Apples and pumpkins are traditional fall foods and go well in everything from cakes to puddings, and of course, make moist and mouth-watering breads. Enjoy the change of seasons with a piece of apple or pumpkin bread and a mug of your favorite hot beverages. Happy Eating! PineandLakes.com Illustration
