Pine River Parade of Lights Day draws crowd
Unseasonably warm weather during the Pine River Parade of Lights Day on Saturday, Dec. 13, gave spectators to the events a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy the show.
Though fog obscured the parade floats from a distance, the 15 bright, colorful floats were cheered on by all who came out in the warm weather.
The Paws & Claws 4-H Club pulled off a win for Best Use of Lights In Theme for the "Frozen in Pine River" themed event. Trussworthy Components claimed the title of Best Overall Use of Lights. The winners each received a $100 Pine River Chamber gift certificate.
After the parade, families warmed themselves with hot beverages while eating cookies near a blazing bonfire. The chamber ultimately ran out of hot chocolate and apple cider with the large crowd.
Though some fireworks spectators were concerned, even the thick fog that blanketed Pine River during the festivities didn't hamper the event. The fog even seemed to ultimately enhance the fireworks display.
