Lake Country Nordic Ski Club to host trail work days

The Lake Country Nordic Ski Club will host work days on the trails to improve signage, repair or replace structures and do any major tree removals.

The club will work on two of its four trails in May, with the first work day Saturday, May 3, at Cut Lake. Club members will make sure trail signs are in the right place and will place difficulty signs, then change location and repair/paint signs near the parking area and rebuild the shelter near Deer Lake.

The second work day will be May 31 at Hiram Trail.

Meet at 9 a.m. at the trail heads. Email to help. The club also needs at least one ATV, with trailer if possible, to place sign posts and check for downed trees.

Also, in conjunction with Cass County, the Lake Country Nordic Ski Club made a significant grant request for additional equipment for trail grooming. The club should hear if it gets the matching grant in mid to late June.
