The Pequot Brush Pilots started the winter season by cleaning trails and hosting a DNR snowmobile safety class.

Safety class participants were taken through an eight-hour, hands-on course on snowmobile instruction that included a written test and driving test Saturday morning, Dec. 7, with temperatures at 22 below zero.

The Brush Pilots maintain the trails in the Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point area and west to Sno Way 1. The club has monthly meetings at different locations of sponsors on area maps.

The Brush Pilots will run radar runs at Breezy Point Ice Fest on Jan. 4 and will host the International Antique Snowmobile Club of America Convention in conjunction with the 20th annual Antique Snowmobile Rendezvous on Jan. 17-18.

There will be a club ride to Lake Vermilion on Jan. 24-25.
