Fishing to End Hunger walleye tournament on tap this weekend

The first Fishing to End Hunger Walleyedan Tournament will be Saturday, Oct. 5, on the Gull Chain of Lakes, with proceeds benefiting Kids Against Hunger-Brainerd Lakes Area in Nisswa.

Bar Harbor is the tournament headquarters, where a silent auction will run from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. The auction is open to the public with no admission fee. Seth Doud will provide music from 4-7 p.m. Friday and 2-6 p.m. Saturday.

All proceeds from the silent auction and walleye tournament will benefit Kids Against Hunger-Brainerd Lakes Area in Nisswa.

Tournament entry fee is $500 per two-person team with a 100-boat maximum. Entry fees will pay for prizes of $10,000 for first place, $7,500 for second and $5,000 for third.

Teams will fish from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Teams are asked to fundraise, with those donations going to Kids Against Hunger. Fundraising prizes include a Yetti Fish House and boat.

Kids Against Hunger is a nonprofit humanitarian food aid organization with the mission to significantly reduce the number of undernourished children in the United States and starving children around the world. Volunteers pack nutritious meals with ingredients purchased with donations. Meals are then delivered where needed.
