Whitefish Women 18-Hole

Mary Boeder, Cathy Munger, Nancy Einan and Cheryl Bontrager shot 142 to win the one gross and one net event Aug. 28 during the Whitefish Women’s 18-Hole League.

Barb Hanson, Nancy Carlson, Marlys Guse and Myra Faust finished second.

Munger fired a low net 65 with four birdies and six pars for a not so gross 78.

Faust and Guse both scored a chip in for birdies. Darlene Bonnema sank a chip in.

Diane Giefer and Maxine Riches were closest to the pin. Einan and Hholubar made the longest putts.

Mary Kay Kendall won the season-long Match Play title with Marguerite Baker finishing second.

League will continue until Sept. 18.

Whitefish Women 9-Hole

Kathy Larson won the Whitefish Women’s 9-Hole League beat the pro event Aug. 28 with a net score of 31. Players’ net scores were used to determine the individual winners who beat the pro’s gross score of 41.

Others who beat the pro with their net scores were Vicki Dypwick, 34; Mary K. Erickson, Bev Ogren and Janet McDougal, 35; Ruth Klukow and Stephanie Haider, 36; Barb Wetter, Susan Swanson and Marge Weigel, 39; and Gini Moberg and Kathy Brodin, 40.

Whitefish Men

Jim Rauenhorst, Bob Caturia and Mike Einan finished first in the mixed flight of the Aug. 27 two-man, low ball, low-net event during men’s league at Whitefish Golf Club.

Joe Wagner, Darrell Swanson and Greg Lindahl needed a scorecard playoff to top Tom Otteson, Greg Johnson, Richard Hauser and Al Olson.

Dale Frandsen and Len Valley drained the longest putts. Dick Femrite and Jim McKeehen were closest to the pin.

Breezy Point Women

Verna Miller, Patty Carlyle, Jean Appleton and Polly Aumock shot 63 to win the Aug. 29 mystery game during the final Breezy Point Resort Women’s League.

Ruth Tiedeman, Betty Huseby, Chris Bjornson and Judy Thomas shot 66 for second.

Barb Owens, Cathy Johnson, Jan Benson and Bugs Schmidt fired a third-place 70.

Gloria Thomas, Doris Moede and Martha Polsfuss placed fourth, followed by Sandy O’Day, Janie Pommer, Judi Moravec and Bunny Oseland.

Crosswoods Women

The team of Gloria Dalbec, Harriet Smith, Nancy Barnes and Sandy Melberg won the pink ball game of the day Aug. 26 in Crosswoods Women’s League 18-hole play. Birdies went to Sue Farrell on hole 6 and Joey Hodgson on hole 5. Harriet Smith had a chip in on hole 10.

In 9-hole pink ball play Aug. 28, the team of Renee Aden, Nancy Meinke and Tracy Nelson took first. Michele Kohler, Cheryl Fraser, Darlene Berger and Rose Ann Stans placed second.

Carol Coult had a birdie on hole 14.

Crosswoods Men

Bob Johnson had the low net round of 63 on Aug. 27 with the Crosswoods Men’s League. Ray Elie had the individual low net on the front nine, and Palmer Sorenson on the back nine.

Game of the day was 3-2-1 variable best ball.

The team of Lyle Monson, Martin Guse, Bob McPherson and blind draw was first on the front nine. The team of Ralph Lewis, Roger Coult, Jim Ritter and Greg Long was first on the back nine and second on the front nine.

Dale Erickson, Chet Herrboldt, John Jensen and Joe Smith placed second on the back nine.

Johnson was closest to the pin on hole 11 and Bob Eng on hole 6. Johnson had the longest putt on hole 9, and Don Miller on hole 16.

On Aug. 29, Ken Olsen had the low net round of 61 and the individual low net on the back nine. Sorenson had the individual low net on the front nine.

Game of the day was team low net. The team of Elie, Jim Mateyka, Daryl Anderson and Pat McAlpine was first on the front nine. Bob Weins, Nick Loscheider, Miller and Don Rother placed first on the back nine.

Taking second were the teams of Jerry Martin, John Antos, Sorenson and Olsen on the front nine, and Eng, Loyal Meech, John Jensen and Ron Bickford on the back nine.

Elie was closest to the pin on hole 11, and Greg Long on hole 6. Bill Frane had the longest putt on hole 9, and Elie on hole 18.

Howard’s Barn Men

The team of Jon Driscoll, Carol Lieske and Ken Lieske won the Fairways at Howard’s Barn Men’s League season-ending scramble Aug. 28.

Second place went to the team of Bing Brodzinski, Ollie Courts, Harry Head and Evie Hoffa. Pat Rauenhorst, Jim Rauenhost, Woody Woodwick and Tom Yurek took third.

Results of the league’s 27-hole yearend tournament included Bing Brodzinski winning the low gross score and Woody Woodwick as low net winner.

The league will continue to play at 9 a.m. Wednesdays as weather permits.

Emily Greens

Tuesday Morning Men’s League

Paul Jensen, Roger Richters, Elmer Johnson and Jim Shallman took first place in the Tuesday Morning Men’s League.

A three-way tie for second place went to Jack Curry, Pat O’Connor, Larry Neer and Tom Walker; Dick Blevins, Gary Nelson, Keith Walker and Larry Wickstrom; and Sid Hughes, Charlie Peterson, Gene Jensen and Russ Philstrom.

Grand View Lodge

Lisa Omodt, Candace Prigge, Katie Wallace and Blanche McMenimen shot 37s to win the scramble event Aug. 27 during the Grand View Lodge women’s outing at The Preserve.

Betty Kackman, Diane Aydt, Marlene Perkins and Val Lueck tied for second with Karen Williams, Ann Powers and Linda Gronholz.

Carrie Spitzack, Marian Duffy, Barb Elmquist and Kris McGrath finished fourth.

Kackman and Spitzack sank the longest putts.

During the Aug. 13 outing at the Pines, the team of Connie Lazar, McMenimen and Spitzack shot 43 for first.

Jean Morgan, Elmquist and Omodt placed second and Kackman, Aydt, Perkins and Lueck finished third.

Omodt made the longest putt and was closest to the pin in two shots.

Powers, Williams, Denise Laber and Elaine Youngquist won the Aug. 20 outing by knocking off Omodt, Prigge, Spitzack and Wallace in a scorecard playoff.

Morgan, Elmquist, Lazar and McMenimen finished third and Kackman, Aydt, Perkins and Lueck were fourth.

Elmquist made the longest putt.

The final outing will be a Coed Outing 5 p.m. Sept. 10.

Cragun’s Men’s League

D&D Exteriors enjoyed a 24-20 victory over 925.Silver Aug. 29 to secure a 3.25-point lead in the men’s league standings at Cragun’s Legacy Courses.

Von Hanson’s remains in second after beating Mulligan’s 30-14 and Edward Jones is third after a 23-21 defeat of US Bank.

MGA results

Claudia Pilot of Cragun’s Legacy Courses shot rounds of 72-80 to place third in the 38th Minnesota Senior Women’s State Amateur Championship Aug. 26-27 at Pokegama Golf Course in Grand Rapids.

Pilot was 11 shots behind Leigh Klasse of Keller Golf Course, who won the tournament with rounds of 69-72.

Barb Hanson of Whitefish Golf Club placed eighth in the first flight of the competition with an 83-83 — 166.

Golden Eagle Golf Club’s Katie Deeg placed third in the fifth flight with a 209. That was four strokes better than Martha Polsfuss of Breezy Point Resort, who fired a 213 for fifth place.

Holes in one

John Erickson, Blair, Neb., aced the 150-yard second hole of The Classic at Madden’s using a 9-iron.

Taylor Majeres aced the 140-yard eighth hole of the Par 3 Course at Cragun’s Legacy Courses Aug. 9 using a 3-wood.

Bill Mallory, Wis., aced the 144-yard 11th hole of Breezy Point Resort’s Whitebirch Aug. 27 using a 7-iron.
