It is the primary fund raiser for the chapter each year and is attended by 250 to 300 deer hunters young and old. The funds raised are used for the betterment of deer and deer hunting, habitat, education and hunting programs. The chapter raises about $15,000 per year which is spent on many local projects.

The cost of the banquet is $50 for an individual which includes dinner and a membership. Any $50 ticket purchaser may bring one guest for $30. Forkhorn tickets (ages 16 and under) are $40 and include dinner, membership and a Forkhorn drawing.

Ticket are available for the banquet, for more information call 218-894-1059.

Some of the projects MDHA have funded are the TIP Wall of Shame Trailer, firearms safety classes, permit to carry classes, archery in the schools program, week-long education camps at Deep Portage (for youth 12-16 years of age), Broken Wings Handicapped Hunt, local food shelves and State High School Clay Target Leagues. Together with other chapters they have preserved public hunting lands by putting their funds in one pot to purchase Wildlife Management Areas. The chapter purchases wildlife seed for their members to plant small food and a couple larger plots for over winter food supplies.

The Bluewater Chapter has their own kids day called Forkhorn Day. Where they take girls and boys under age 16 who have their fire arms safety certificate on a hunt and education day where they target shoot with rifles, bows and shotguns. After lunch they end the day with a pheasant hunt. Experienced adult hunters assist the youth.

The organization is trying to make sure that lands are preserved for future and trying to make sure there are plenty of future hunters, which means getting the young hunters involved now.
