CO Nikki Shoutz (Pine River) tracked down the owner of a unoccupied fish shelter still on a Pine River lake since the March 4 deadline. It appeared to be a miscommunication with a friend who was to remove it. When asked why there was no license on it – he said that when he put it out three months ago, it was just going to be an “overnight fishing trip.” Enforcement action was taken. Assistance with snowmobile enforcement was also provided at the annual Crosslake St. Patrick’s Day parade. Enforcement action was taken for failing to display registration, failing to stop at road crossings and operating snowmobile with no snowmobile safety permit.

CO Duke Broughten (Longville) spent the week monitoring angling and snowmobiling activity. Angling success continues to be poor in the Longville area with most travel limited to snowmobile. Snowmobile activity remained high this past week. CO Broughten received several complaints of anglers leaving their ice houses out and are now running into trouble getting them off area lakes. Enforcement action included: no angling license in possession and failure to display snowmobile registration.
