Pratt, Bordens claim Crosslake ice races

Generally good racing conditions were the order of the day for the Saturday, Feb. 23, edition of the Crosslake Ice Racing event with very little ice dust to hamper the racers’ visibility.

In the studded tire class, Shawn Pratt from Merrifield in the Superman car took first, with Drew Seeker from Crosslake in the 13 car taking second and Matt Borden from Merrifield in the 80 car taking third.

In the age 15 and under class, 8-year-old Jake Borden from Merrifield in the 8 car took first again, with Logan Pratt of Merrifield in the T4 car taking second and Connor Pratt from Merrifield in the other Superman car taking third.

In the rubber tire class, Matt Borden in the 8 car took first, with Shawn Pratt in the  Superman car taking second and Taylor Pratt of Merrifield  in the T4 car taking third.

It is hoped there will be races on both Saturdays, March 2 and 9, depending on ice conditions. The public is welcome to view the racing action free of charge from a plowed spectator parking area on Big Pine Lake, south of downtown Crosslake.

Spectators are welcome. Take Big Pine Trail east from County Road 3 approximately one-quarter mile to the public access. Follow a plowed road on the lake to the parking lot on the southwest side of the track. There is no charge for admission.
