Matt Borden of Merrifield in the 80 car placed second and Shawn Pratt, also of Merrifield, was third.

In the 15 and under class, 8-year-old Jake Borden of Merrifield took first again. When asked how many telephone books he had to sit on to see out the windshield, he smiled and replied, “Just one.”

Secod place went to Sarah Hines from Randall in the 21 car, and Connor Pratt of Merrifield in the Superman car took third.

In the rubber tire class, first place went to Matt Borden in his son’s No. 8 car, with second place going to Shawn Pratt in the Superman car and third to Dylan Nelson of Merrifield in the 25 car.

It is hoped racing activities will go through Saturday, March 9, dependent on ice conditions.

Spectators are welcome to view the races, which begin at noon Saturdays, from a plowed spectator parking area on the lake, in front of the Cedar Chest. The public water access to Big Pine Lake is approximately a quarter mile east of County Road 3 on the Big Pine Trail.

There is no charge for admission.
