Merrifield residents win ice races

Merrifield residents win ice races in Crosslake

In the studded tire class of the Crosslake Ice Racing event Saturday, Jan. 26, Matt Borden from Merrifield was first in car 80, Shawn Pratt from Merrifield was second in the Superman car, and Taylor Pratt from Merrifield was third in car 2.

In the under age 15 category, Sarah Hines from Randall won in car 21, Dylan Nelson from Merrifield was second in car No. 5, and Jake Borden of Merrifield was third in car 8.

In the rubber tire class, Matt Borden in his other 80 car was first, Shawn Pratt in his other Superman car was second; and Nelson in car 5 was third.

Ice racing will take place every Saturday at noon on Big Pine Lake, south of downtown Crosslake in front of the Cedar Chest, until ice conditions no longer warrant.

Spectators are welcome to view the races. Take Big Pine Trail east from County Road 3 approximately one-quarter mile to the public access. Follow a plowed road on the lake to the parking lot on the southwest side of the track.

There is no charge for admission.
