Perham sweeps Patriots in baseball

The Pequot Lakes Patriots baseball team collected just eight total hits and was swept at Perham by scores of 2-0 and 10-0 in a Mid-State Conference doubleheader on Thursday, May 15.

The Patriots, 3-7 in the Mid-State and 5-8 overall, will host Staples-Motley in a Mid-State Conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 23. That game had been rained out on Monday, May 19.

Pequot Lakes’ Austin Mesenbrink was the losing pitcher in both games against the Yellowjackets, who enjoyed a 6-3 edge in hits in the opener. In the second game, The Patriots were outhit 9-5 while also making four errors.

Patriots sweep Crosby-Ironton

On Tuesday, May 13, Pequot Lakes swept the Rangers 14-7 and 10-0 in a Mid-State Conference doubleheader as Mesenbrink was 5-7 with five RBI and three runs scored for the day.

The Patriots banged out 13 hits, but made four errors to win the opener. Chad Christenson was the winning pitcher in the first game while Connor Davich tripled.

In the second game, Jordan Thorson was the winning pitcher while Mesenbrink, Davich and Zach Trottier each had three hits as Pequot Lakes had with 12 hits.
