Nisswa: Council moves forward on clerk/administrator issue - Meeting April 26 5:30 p.m.

Lightning open exhibition season on Saturday

The Nisswa Lightning amateur baseball team kicks off its season with an exhibition game at the Midway Snurdbirds at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. The Lightning will then play a an exhibition game against the St. Joseph Saints at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the Nisswa Community Park.

The Victory League season opens at the Cuyuna Miners at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, while the league home opener against St. Mathias is at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 11.

“Everything is on schedule for the start of the season,” said Nisswa manager Aaron Jenkins, whose team finished 14-8 overall last year. “The (cold and snowy spring) weather hasn’t been a factor.”

Jenkins added that a couple improvements to the home field this season include extended dugouts and a sprinkler system in the outfield.
