PL returns 4 golf letterwinners

The Pequot Lakes boys’ golf team returns four letterwinners, including seniors Bradley Boldt and Trenton Beyer, and juniors Ethan Neitzke and Jackson Goerges.

“We have very little true varsity experience other than Bradley (Boldt),” said Patriots’ head coach Steve Stoxen. “He has a tremendous opportunity this year to accomplish some lofty goals. Making all-conference, plus being a state participant, are well within his reach. He has the ability to break 80 every time he competes.

“Ethan (Neitzke) put in a lot of time last summer, which will definitely help his ability to score well in competitive meets.”

Stoxen added that “having a strong mental focus” and “being able to shake off the bad shots and bad holes” are keys to golfing success.

“If our squad can learn to control their emotions on the golf course, and work hard on their short game, we should be able to make tremendous strides in regard to improving our overall score,” Stoxen said. “That is what competitive golf is all about.”

Non-letterwinners are senior Jonah Lelwica, freshman Erik Sandelin and eighth-grader John Marchwick. Stoxen is assisted by Matt Ingman.
