Zimmerman chosen MVP for Lightning

Hannah Zimmerman was chosen most valuable player at the recent Northern Lakes Lightning girls’ hockey team awards banquet.

Zimmerman, a junior defenseman who had three goals and nine points this season, was also an All-Mid-State Conference selection along with teammates Mariah Reed and Megan Snyder.

Reed, a junior forward, had 12 goals and 33 points while Snyder, a junior wing, had 12 goals and 22 points.

Northern Lakes’ Madison Galligan, Erika Monson and Bella Abear received all-conference honorable mention.

Galligan, junior goaltender, had a 2.92 goals-against average while Monson, a senior defenseman, had six points while Abear, a sophomore wing, had 10 goals and 20 points.

Madilyn McMonigal was chosen most improved player while Erika Monson earned the coaches’ award.

The Lightning finished 11-14 overall after losing to Fergus Falls 5-2 in the Section 6A semifinals.
