North Stars lose 3 games

The Breezy Point North Stars lost three road games over the weekend in North American Tier III junior hockey action.

On Sunday, March 2, the Minnesota Flying Aces of Little Falls edged the North Stars 5-4. Alex Mimmack, Blake Neumann, Crosby Steen and Nick Manney all scored for the North Stars while losing goaltender Joey Bergquist stopped 32 shots. Winning netminder Patrick Anderson had 19 saves.

On Saturday, March 1, Alexandria blanked Breezy Point 10-0 as Mick Dhein and Garrett Skinner each had two goals for the Blizzard. Winning goaltender Tanner Elmore stopped 23 shots while the North Stars’ Troy Pierce had 39 saves.

On Friday, Feb. 28, Breezy Point lost to the Granite City Lumberjacks 9-2 despite goals by Manney and Steen. Aidan Verbeke and Zach Voss each scored twice for Granite City. Winning goalie Scott Murray stopped 11 shots and Pierce had 27 saves.

The North Stars, 8-36-2 overall, end the season at North Iowa on Friday and Saturday, March 7-8.
