Skiers from Mount Ski Gull, Alexandria, Duluth, Lutsen and Mont Du Lac participated in the final race of the 2013-14 ski season. Race organizers said 137 youth participated in the championship race.

“We were nervous of the cold temps, but our volunteers prepared well to keep our skiers and spectators warm,” said Alpine Team Coordinator Janell Madison. “It was a great way to end a great season.”

Bridget Collins of Baxter took first place in the girls 6-7 age division. In the boys’ 6-7 group, Eli Johnson of Crosslake took third-place honors. In boys’ 8-9, all three top spots went to MSG skiers – Gavin Hoelzel, East Gull Lake; Evan Hutchison, Crosby; and Max Krieger, East Gull Lake, respectively.

MSG girls also took the top three spots in the girls’ 10-11 division. Madeline Sherman of Pequot Lakes took first; Maddie Pederson of Crosslake, second; and Anna Kreiger, Crosslake, third. In boys’ 10-11 division, Calvin Madison of East Gull Lake took second place.
