The section team winner advances to the Class AA state wrestling tournament on Feb. 27 to March 1, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Teams will wrestle at state on Feb. 27, with individuals at 11 a.m. on Feb. 28

As for section team competition, Perham should be seeded No. 1 while the Road Crew is also among the contenders.

“I was hoping to get a higher seed, but we will take what we get and make the most of it,” said coach Travis Hoffarth. “We have a couple of injuries and illness, but if we have our full lineup, we should be ready.”

Some top individuals are senior Anthony Philipson, who has been wrestling at 113 pounds, but is ranked second in the state at 106. The two-time state entrant has 130 career wins, and is 24-2 this season.

Senior Ozzy Miller has improved to 26-7 this year while senior Justin Mackenthun is 23-3 overall with 86 career wins.
