The Pequot Lakes girls’ basketball team outscored visiting Wadena-Deer Creek 82-23 in Mid-State Conference action on Monday, Feb. 3. It was the fifth victory in the past six games for the Patriots.
Vanessa Lane finished with 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while teammate Kayla Miller added 19 points and seven assists to lead the Patriots, who used an 18-0 run to end the first half to compile a 46-10 lead at intermission. Lane had 14 points while Miller had 11 points in the big first half.
“We had a long layoff, but the kids played hard with a lot of energy,” Pequot Lakes coach Jon Dale said. “We really played well as a team. We played good defense, and blew the game open with the run to close the first half.”
The Patriots, 5-1 in the conference and 12-5 overall, are scheduled to play an important conference game at Staples-Motley on Thursday, Feb. 6.
A total of 11 girls scored for Pequot Lakes against W-DC, which dropped to 1-13.
